Which material is best for the Orbis box, and how should I care for it?
For the Orbis box, we recommend choosing PLA material for general indoor use, or PETG for higher resistance to moisture and UV radiation. Both materials are easily cleaned with a damp cloth, but avoid aggressive chemicals and dishwashers. The products are not suitable for direct contact with food.
How does printing with PLA and PETG filament differ for this model?
PLA printing offers a wide range of colors and matte or glossy surfaces, ideal for decorative and interior accessories. PETG provides higher mechanical resistance, toughness, and better tolerance for higher temperatures and humidity, making it more suitable for places with variable conditions, such as bathrooms or near windows.
Can the Orbis box withstand direct sunlight or humidity?
If the box is printed from PETG filament, it exhibits better resistance to UV radiation and humidity, making it suitable for placement in a bathroom or on a windowsill. PLA models are more sensitive to direct sunlight and high temperatures, which can cause material deformation. We do not recommend either material for outdoor use.
Can the Orbis box be used for food or liquids?
No, the Orbis box, nor any other 3D printed items made from PLA or PETG, are intended for direct contact with food or liquids. The material is not food-grade and may have micropores that would prevent hygienic cleaning and food storage. It serves exclusively as a decoration or storage for non-food small items.
